Internet Desk: Indian cricketers experienced the pink ball for the first time in the first match of Duleep trophy. A mixed reaction came out of the players after their first hand experience.

From the point of senior Indian team member Yuvraj Singh the pink ball is good for the spinners. After the win of his side he said, “I thought the pink ball moved a bit more than the SG ball. It was pretty exciting, the pink ball doesn’t go old. It was coming onto the bat nicely.”

The first pink ball match of the Indian cricketers showed a success of bowlers until the third day. India Red bowlers Shreyas Gopal and Kuldeep Yadav got a lot of success. Still the Indian spinners are not at all happy with the pink ball as its lacking of providing reverse swing.

“We didn’t get as much help off the wicket as we might have got with another ball. We bowled in good areas i.e. bowl from a good length spot and be on stumps as much as possible. We need to get used to these balls”, said Shreyas Gopal.

Robin Uthappa from the India Green was rather confused with the use of the pink ball. According to him, “Spotting the ball is not an issue. But I think the ball changes colour when the light changes. Towards the evening it becomes kind of orange but again in the night it becomes pink. Some players have felt the ball dip on them and that is a factor.”

Uthappa is rather negative regarding the pink ball. He said, “We tried to get it to reverse but it didn’t.”

However, some Indian players are in favor of more experiment with the pink ball. Former Indian wicket keeper Parthiv Patel said, ““There is definitely future but too early to say. As we play lot more games we will know lot of things. As we play more we will get to it and we will get over the excitement. It was definitely exciting to get to play a day-night four-day game.”
