Kolkata: The CAB (Cricket association of Bengal) is in a quandary after it has started implementing the Lodha recommendations. Already the Treasurer Biswaroop Dey, Assistant Secretary Biswanath Samanta and Amio Auddy the Vice-President have resigned from there post and their nameplates have also been removed today. But a section of CAB members today at the meeting called for organizing the third ODI at the Eden Gardens between India and England raised concern over Lodha Committees recently published FAQ. Where it has been stated that people over 70 years age and also completing the 9 years term in office cannot represent their clubs in CAB.

Strong points were raised in front of CAB President Sourav Ganguly chairing the meeting that the office bearers who cannot be part of CAB administration why can’t they represent their respective clubs? Which they have been doing through decades. The members have appealed to the President to seek clarification from the Lodha Committee on this issue. Although the President didn’t promise anything in the meeting.

Questions have also been raised on retaining Joint secretary Subir Ganguly on his post who has served continuously for eight years and have not served his 3 years cooling off period then why shouldn’t he be disqualified from his post immediately. Some members raised the point that retaining him in his post is also violation of Lodha reforms. If the treasure Biswaroop who has been removed from his post from immediate effect then why not Subir Ganguly? CAB has a representation of 121 clubs and if Lodha reforms are implemented then 70 percent of CAB club representatives will have to vacate their post. It has been decided that further course of action will be taken after the verdict of Supreme Court due on 19th January. A meeting of the senior members of the CAB has been convened on 20th January.

Discussions were also held on filing a cumulative petition appealing to the court to allow the disqualified members to represent their clubs at the CAB. Although CAB lawyer Ushanath Banerjee has ruled out possibilities of filing any further petition as according to him that will be baseless.
