Internet Desk: BCCI which is under tremendous pressure from the judiciary for implementing the Lodha committee’s administrative reforms, is now being suspected of not pursuing the review petition in the Supreme Court. BCCI filed a review petition on August 16 to challenge the recommendations made by Lodha panel. The board is accused of not returning the petition back to SC to complete the process.

As per the new rule, the party indignant gets a diary number the moment it files a review petition and, thereafter, it is supposed to approach the registry to determine if there is any need to “cure the defects”. If the registry finds that the petition needs to cure the defects, the concerned party does the needful and submits it again to the registry, which is then submitted in the Chief Justice’s office.

The board is accused of taking the diary number after filing the review and also noting the defects in the petition from the registry, but hasn’t returned it back to complete the process. As a result, the registry can’t send the BCCI review petition to the CJI’s office.

BCCI secretary Ajay Shirke, wasn’t available for comments. But a senior functionary of the board, who was on his way to the US for the T20 series against the West Indies denied the allegation of delaying the review petition.
