Xtra Time Web Desk:  Great news for cricket fans across the globe as cricket is very much back on track for a comeback at Los Angeles Olympic Games in 2028. According to RevSportz, International Olympic Committee executive board is supposed to meet in June to decide. Ceremonial announcement will be made in India at the IOC session between October 14-17 in Mumbai.

Last time cricket was part of Olympic was back at the Paris Games in 1900 when only two nations took part. But since then, the sport has not been part of the Olympic games. Cricket made its comeback at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham 2022 after a gap of 24 years. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) did send a strong team under captain Harmanpreet Kaur.

BCCI did send a men’s team for the 1998 Commonwealth Games. The Indian team did not have the likes Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid, Mohammed Azharuddin, Javagal Srinath and Navjot Sidhu who were instead sent to play Friendship Cup against Pakistan in Toronto.

As per the record books Steve Waugh’s highest ODI score against India was an 81 he made in his debut season in 1985-86. But the former Australian captain has scored an unbeaten 100 against an Indian attack comprising of Anil Kumble and Harbhajan Singh during the CWG 1998.

Earlier BCCI did not send teams to take part in Asian Games in 2010 and 2014. But the latest development is a huge step in cricket being part of Olympic Games from Los Angeles Games 2028.
