Cornell Glen shines for Mohun Bagan , scores hat-trick in exhibition tie

Cornell-GlenKOLKATA : MohunBagan rode on a hat-trick  by Cornell Glen to defeat CMC-TCS  XI in a practice match at the Bhandarhati Union Club ground in Hooghly. The Trinidad & Tobago World Cupper who joined the defending I-league champions a few days back has now scored 4 goals in his two matches for Bagan ( his first goal was in a practice match against Kolkata University XI ) .Glen opened the scoring in the 14th minute of the match. He received a long ball from the midfield and volleyed it past the opponent goalkeeper. MohunBagan went into the break  with a one goal lead. Glen did loose his temper mid way into the first hald after being roughly tackled by an opponent footballer . Referee Udayan Halder who officiated in the first half was quick to pacify the burly footballer .  7 minutes into the second half  Sanjay Sen’s team doubled their lead through Cornell Glen. Glenn looked much more confident after scoring his first goal. With no competitive matches ahead of the I-league Sanjoy Sen was forced to  play all his three foreigners including Katsumi Yusa and Judelin Aveska. The Trinidadian  World cupper who is still not fully fit completed his hat-trick  in the 27th minutes of the second half . Rightly ,Glen was adjudged  man of the match for his outstanding effort . Glen who played a key role in Lajong FC’s superb performance in the I League last season looked in great touch. Two footballers Sarthak Dolui and Sidhartha Khushwa were keenly watched by the Mohun Bagan coach as both of them were in trials . CMC-TCS XI pulled a goal back during the dying moments of the match . Due to a cloudy weather the match was played under floodlights . The atmosphere was electrifying with a sold out crowd . Tickets priced at Rs 100 were all sold days before the match . Glen who was the second highest scorer in I-league with Lajong FC would  surely want to repeat his performance this season for Mohun Bagan . With little over a month to go for the I-league Mohun Bagan coach Sanjay Sen will have peaceful nights of sleep . He  would  feel a lot  relieved with the performance of his boys  and  with the ISL footballers  joining the team practice  Bagan coach will certainly feel lot more  comfortable . Asked about how he felt about Glen scoring a hat-trick , “ He has just joined us for 10 days , and to have scored a hat-trick in his second match augurs well for the team . With the passage of time , I am confident Glen will settle down in the team . ” replied a happy Sanjay Sen before he boarded the team bus back to Kolkata .
