Image Source: AIFF[/caption] Kolkata: Mohun Bagan who became the runners up of this year’s I-League is now determined to retain the Fed Cup title for this season. The Mohun Bagan players along with the fans had hopes of winning the league but it happened otherwise as Aizawl FC became the champions after finishing the league a point more than the Kolkata side. “It is not possible to become the Champions every time. We played well, sometimes we win, sometimes we have to lose.” said the Bagan forward Jeje. He also congratulated Aizawl FC for winning the league and said that the team from North-East deserved to be the Champions. Scottish striker Darryl Duffy thinks that loosing points against Mumbai FC was a vital reason for his team not winning the league. “I believe loosing points at home against Mumbai and loosing points in the Aizawl away match was very unfortunate. But last season we lost the top spot by 1 point and this year too. We scored 36 points and yet we couldn’t become the Champions. But our morale is high at this moment, and like we spoke in the dressing room, we will do everything in your reach to win the Fed Cup” said Duffy. “According to me the 3 things that was the turning point in league for us were dropping points against Mumbai FC both at home and away. We dropped points at a constant rate in the away matches. And lastly losing to Aizawl is also an important reason” said Sony Norde. “Today we played really well but the Champions luck was not with us, so we couldn’t become the Champions. I request all the Mohun Bagan fans and supporters to stay beside the club. We won the Fed Cup last year; it’s our job to win the Cup again.”said the Haitian. Sony Norde has also said the he had hurt his left knee during today’s match and has informed the coach about it. He also added that he is unwilling to travel with the team to Malaysia to play for the AFC. He however wants to fully focus and concentrate on the Fed Cup and win it for the club.
