Kolkata: The opening match of the Calcutta Football League 2018 between defending Champions East Bengal and Tollygunge Agragami called off due to unplayable conditions.

The game was tied with a 1-1 scoreline when the referee felt the conditions were unplayable to run the game at the start of the second half.

It was East Bengal who had a brilliant start to the game in the 2nd minute, when Lalrindika Ralte’s fine free kick took deflections from East Bengal’s Kassim Aidara and then Tollygunge’s Richard and then ended up at the back of the net to give Subhash Bhowmick’s team a 1-0 lead.

Manoranjan Bhattacharya’s Tollygunge Agragami equalized in a magnificent fashion, as Daniel Bidemi drilled passed Rakshit Dagar with a powerful shot on the far post.

No doubt, considering the conditions, it had literally become a daunting task for the Red and Gold brigade to make a comeback into the game. The referee’s decision came as a blessing in disguise for the East Bengal brigade.
