CFL 2018: Mohun Bagan thrash Police, go on top of the points table

Kolkata: Mohun Bagan continues to chase Quess East Bengal to battle for the title, as the Mariners comprehensively beat foreignerless West Bengal Police by 5-0. Goal machine Dipanda Dicka scored a fantastic hat-trick, Henry and scored a piece. Police was down to ten men as SK Shahrukh was Red carded in the 85th minute.

It was only a minute on the clock when Dipanda Dicka stunned the opposition with an opportunistic finish from a throw in.




Bagan coach Shankarlal Chakraborty made a significant change in the second half to bring star midfielder Mehtab Hossain.

Mohun Bagan continued to put pressure on the Police brigade with incessant attacks. The Police defenders made 4 goal-line saves during the game. On the flip side , Bagan goalie Shilton Paul only had to make a single save in the entire game when he threw his body on the right and pulled off a stunner.




The Green and Maroon brigade scored their second in the 32nd minute when Pintu Mahato delivered a superb cross to Britto and the former Churchill Brothers man made no mistake to slot it in to make 2-0.

Bagan got their third and Dipanda got his second in the 52nd minute when substitute Mehtab curled a superb corner kick and Dipanda accepted the gift gleefully with a thumping header to make it 3-0.1

Mohun Bagan made it 4-0 in the 95th minute when Henry Kisekka scored a fine solo goal. Dipanda completed his hat-trick in the 95th minute when Mehtab Hossain triggered a superb through ball on the wings and Henry did the assist with a fine cross.




The win puts Mohun Bagan on top of the points table with 16 points from 6 games. East Bengal now dropped on the second place with 13 points off 5 games.
