CFL 2018: Md Sporting puts up a disappointing show, drops points against George Telegraph

Kolkata:
Mohammedan Sporting puts up an ugly display as they were held to a goal-less draw at the Barasat Stadium in the Calcutta Football League clash today against George Telegraph. The Black Panthers had so many opportunities but George Telegraph goalkeeper Laltu Mondal put up a stellar display to shatter the hopes of Raghu Nandi’s men.

Mohammedan SC dominated proceedings and created better goal-scoring chances in front of their home fans but Raghu Nandi’s team were let down by their final pass and finishing. They will surely be kicking themselves for not burying numerous goal-scoring opportunities they created, especially in the second-half.

The Black Panthers gave a good account of themselves in the opening minutes of the game, and should have easily went into the half-time break two or three goals up.

The first real chance of the evening went to Mohammedan SC in the 4th minute, but Dipendu Dowary fired his left-footed effort wide of Laltu Mondal’s goal.

Princewill Emeka should have done better five minutes later after a well-worked move by Satyam Sharma and Prosenjit Chakraborty, but the Nigerian striker was denied by Laltu from close range.

Princewill found himself alone with the goalkeeper minutes later, but he shot straight at on rushing Laltu, who made himself big to make a fine block.
