CFL 2018: East Bengal in injury concerns ahead of facing impressive Rainbow AC

XtraTime Web Desk:
Penn Orji to face the team which made him famous in India on Sunday as NBP Rainbow AC will lock horns with mighty East Bengal who are now sitting pretty on the top of the league table.

East Bengal would be hoping to extend their winning run before the Kolkata Derby on September 2.

The Red and Golds are currently leading the log standings with 13 points from 5 matches, however, technical director Subhash Bhowmick knows the importance of the match and he is confident that his boys will be able to deliver the goods at East Bengal ground.

“We are aware of Rainbow’s strengths. They have some fine players and they will try their level best to overcome us but we have prepared ourselves well and the boys are raring to go,” said Bhowmick.

Although East Bengal are currently on a five-match unbeaten streak, Bhowmick has cautioned the players against complacency and aware of the fact that if they are to bag three points against Rainbow, they need to put their best foot forward.

There is no doubt East Bengal are among the best teams on view in the league but that is not enough for Bhowmick, as he continued to stress on the fact that his team have not yet reached full potential.

Though the attack has been the strength of the team but defense has been the talking point. With Kinshuk Debnath and Mehtab Singh marshaling the defense, the Red and Golds have managed to keep the clean sheet in all five of their league games.

Going into the game, coach Bhowmick feels no need to change a winning combination, especially after a convincing 3-0 win against Tollygunge Agragami. The team looked incredibly good in their last fixture but Bhowmick is keeping his feet firmly on the ground.

Rainbow, on the other hand, coming on the back off a 2-1 win over West Bengal Police in their last league game, and with 9 points from 5 matches they are on 4th spot in the log.

Tarit Ghosh’s charges, who lost narrowly against other big two despite putting up a valiant effort, will be eager to  pull of the upset against East Bengal and should they do that they will find themselves among the top three in the table.
