Kolkata: Tomorrow is a big day for Kolkata Football as East Bengal will take on their arch rivals Mohun Bagan in the CFL 2018 derby at Salt Lake stadium. Eight time champions East Bengal will look to win the game as it’s turing out to be the decider of the title.

On the other side Mohun Bagan is determind to clinch the trophy for the first time in 8 long years.

East Bengal technical director Subhash Bhowmick admits that they must wary of Mohun Bagan’s attack when they clash in season’s first Kolkata derby on Sunday.

Red and Golds are in second place with 19 points from 7 games in the Calcutta Premier Division ‘A’.
Bhowmick is a contented man ahead of the derby on Sunday, despite registering their fifth consecutive victory of the campaign beating George Telegraph 2-1 on Wednesday.

“The Derby is an extremely emotional affair. Often the unexpected occurs.” Bhowmick said ahead of the clash.

“We will take note of this in our planning and prepare accordingly as best we can. This is a game where you have to fight for all your worth.”

East Bengal are facing an in-from Mohun Bagan side that is on top of the table, and are not shy in front of goal. Bhowmick knows that Mariners are good on counter attack when going forward, with pacey players like Aser Dipanda Diacka and Henry Kisekka in the ranks.

“Mohun Bagan are a attacking side. They are lethal on transition, they set things up nicely, and that is one thing we need to be careful about”, Bhowmick noted.

Bhowmick added that it was now up to his players to go out there and ensure that they give their best performance and fight for a victory against Mohun Bagan, who have shown nothing but fine form in their last three games.

Meanwhile, Bhowmick remains cautious about shaking up his back-line to accommodate Costa Rican World-Cupper Johny Acosta as the veteran tactician himself admitted that it can be a double-edged sword.
