CFL 2017: Mohun Bagan loses important points against Rainbow

Kolkata: Before facing Mohammedan Sporting, Kolkata giant Mohun Bagan loses important points when they faced newly promoted NBP Rainbow at their club ground. Wednesday saw The Green and Maroon brigade salvaged a 1-1 draw against Rainbow. Owing to furious fans at the end of the game, the referee Pranjan Banerjee and other officials had to leave on a police vehicle.

Missing all important chances costed Mariners this all important game. The match saw missed chances from the forwards to horrible defending and then Chesterpaul sustaining a head injury. Both Kamo and Kromah missed early chances while goalie Shibinraj had to make a couple of saves.

28th minute saw Mohun Bagan trailing after a brilliant header from Suraj Mahato. A slight confusion was observed at the gallery when the fans wanted to shove away the extra Rainbow players who were sitting at the gallery. However the matter was settled when police had to intervene as the Mariners when to half time, trailing 1-0.

60th minute saw Kamo’s shot being saved which was set to the back of the net by Kromah. The second half too missed chances from both the sides as the game ended 1-1.

However coach Shankarlal Chakraborty is confident that the league is not over for them at this current moment. Bernard, Shourav and goalie Ankur Das who was adjudged the man of the match displayed some brilliant football. Though Shankarlal didn’t comment anything, yet the Bagan fans think that their side was denied of a penalty so as to provide an advantage for Mohammedan.

Mohun Bagan however is not upset by the point drop and are desperate to reunite and be back on the winning track.
