CFL 2017: Mohammedan Sporting bounces back on the winning ways with an emphatic fashion

Kolkata: Mohammedan Sporting Club registered a convincing victory over Tollygunge Agragami when they thrashed their opponents 5-1 in their second match of the CFL. After losing their opening match 4-2 to Patha Chakra, the Black Panthers came to winning ways with this victory.

The first goal came in the 8th minute of the game when a delightful centre from Tithankar bounded in front of Tollygaunge goalie Jhontu Mondal which was headed by Sheikh Saiyad. The score remained 1-0 in the first half as start striker Dipanda Dicka missed two sitters else the score would have been 3-0 easily.

For the second goal, goalie Jhontu Mondal is to be blamed as he in an attempt to clear the ball missed and it was put in the back of the net by a simple tap-in by Jiten Murmu who was lurking nearby.

57th minute in the game saw Dibyendu Duari get past his opponent’s goalie easily and then was closed down by the defenders. A shot from Duari got deflected by the defenders and made it 3-0 for the Black Panthers.

Jiten Murmu made it 4-0 when after receiving a delightful curling centre from Thoi Raj. Just when everyone realized that the game is done for good, Vijay Mandi pulled one back for his side and it 4-1.

In the 92nd minute Debasish Pradhan who came as a substitute for Dipanda Dicka made the shoreline 5-1 for the Black Panthers.

It was really astonishing to see that quite a strong side like Tollygaunge who has the likes of Anthony Wolfe, Chikawali, Phoolchand Hemrong, Chikawali, Vhashum couldn’t stop the Mohammedan side who were determined to win the match at any cost.

Mohammedan coach Biswajit Bhattacharya was happy with his team’s performance and said that it was a good comeback after they lost their opening game.
