CAB 1st Div. League: Captain Arnab Nandi on fire as East Bengal puts challenging total on board

Kolkata: East Bengal has reached to a challenging score 292/7 in 82 overs against Town Club thanks to their skipper Arnab Nandi’s (73*) brilliant batting in the CAB 1st Division final on Friday.

Captain Arnab Nandi and Sourav Mondal(30) remained not out at the end of day’s play. Earlier, Town Club won the toss and elected to bowl first at the Eden Gardens. Town started brilliantly as East Bengal lost their first wicket of Prosenjit Das on a duck. Later the Red & Gold side showed some resistance through Vivek Singh(60) and Soham Ghosh’s 76-run knock, but they kept loosing wickets in regular intervals due to some brilliant bowling by the Town Club bowlers. Deepak Singh Dhapola(3/61) and Chottu Sarkar(2/71) were the pick of the bowlers for their side.

At one stage East Bengal were tottering on 219 for 7, but skipper Arnab Nandi and Sourav Mondal showed brilliant resistance as the pair added 73 crucial runs for the eighth wicket to post a respective total on the board at the end of day’s play.

East Bengal skipper Arnab Nandi said,” We are in a bit pressure after losing two wickets in quick succession, but and the end of day 292 runs are not bad. The wicket is helping the bowlers’ if we can reach a total of 350 runs tomorrow we will have a great chance to win the match.”
