Image Source: AIFF[/caption] Internet Desk: Sporting Clube de Goa went down 3–1 against Bengaluru FC in their last fixture of AIFF U-15 Youth League (Nike Premier Cup 2016) at Duler Stadium Mapusa on Friday. With both teams knocked out of the tournament, this was a match to salvage some pride for both sides. Bengaluru FC took control of the proceedings early in the first half as they managed to make the most of a corner kick in the 7th minute as Steve Antony leaped high into the air beating the Sporting defenders to put it past Tennyson Fernandes. Sporting came back strongly as Aman Govekar and Sahil Halarnkar saw their well directed attempts being saved by the Bengaluru custodian Arun Raj. In the 17th minute Blues’ Shravan Kulkarni smartly tricked the Sporting defender Alister Costa to send in a low left footed shot beating Tennyson to make it 2–0 in favour of the blues. However, Finally in the 37th minute Sporting struck through Doyal Alves who made the most of a defensive error from BFC’s back line. Doyal timed his run with perfection to receive a long ball from Nikhil Correia and calmly place it past Arun to pull one back before switching over. The halftime score stayed at 1 – 2. Second half saw an early event as Steve was brought down by Sporting custodian Tennyson within the box; referee Dipesh Sawant had no hesitation to point towards the spot. Vijay Thangavel stepped up to take the penalty, but Tennyson made up for his error perfectly with a well timed dive towards the left to pull out a fabulous save. Sporting lads displayed great fighting spirit throughout the second half making some good moves up front and dominating most of the ball possession. The best opportunity of the second half came when Aman and Doyal made a good counter attacking move. However the latter failed to make the final touch from a low cross as BFC custodian Arun latched on to the loose ball. Late into the injury time, match witnessed another drama as BFC won a free kick about 20 yards from the nets. BFC’s captain Pradeep Ramesh send in a straight ball towards the Sporting goal. Due to some sought of a confusion from referees hand moment every Sporting player stood still watching the ball sail into the nets, It was only when the goal was awarded in favour of BFC, Sporting the players rushed towards Referee Dipesh Sawant for explanation who signalled the game to be continued. The match ended 1 – 3 in favour of BFC.
