Kolkata: Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) acting secretary Amitabh Choudhury on Monday refuted the claims by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Najam Sethi. The PCB chairman claimed that BCCI has violated the MOU wherein both countries were supposed to play six series between them from 2015-2023.

According to BCCI acting secretary, “It was a statement of intent signed by both the boards and not a MOU as has been put forward by the PCB.”

Earlier the PCB Chairman said to reporters here, “We have gone to the tribunal saying India has violated a contract and we have put forward a figure of 70 million USD for the two series that India were supposed to play and has not played with us.”

The letter signed by former BCCI secretary Sanjay Patel which is in possession of xtratime.in states:

BCCI and PCB agree that the rights for the tour will be assigned to a fit and proper person and will be as detailed in the Master FTP agreement.
The BCCI and PCB will enter into a long form FTP Agreement in respect of the above Future Tours.
The BCCI and PCB acknowledge that the is letter has arisen in the context of the resolutions which have been tabled at the ICC Executive Board meeting on February 8 2014 relating to a new financial model and governance structure for the ICC including the third in a series of six resolutions relating to all Full members entering into a series of agreements with one another providing for agreed FTP content between 2015-2023 and as such if those resolutions are not passed at the ICC Annual Conference in June, 2014 by directors nominated by Full Members of the ICC at that meeting and the representatives of Associate Members and the 4 ICC Zonal representatives, then this letter shall be of no effect.

Meanwhile, BCCI it is learnt is still firm on holding the forthcoming Champions Trophy in 2021 as a 50 over contest instead of the proposed 20 over format by ICC.

Talking about the proposed Day Night test match in Adelaide, BCCI is yet to take a decision. Cricket Australia has already proposed a D/N test match in Adelaide. Both the boards are holding negotiations on the playing conditions for the forthcoming series later this year.

According to the BCCI secretary, “We have plans to host a Day Night test match against West Indies in Hyderabad in October.  But as far as D/N test match is concerned, the matter will be discussed with the team management before a final decision is taken.”
