Xtra Time Web Desk: Rookie all rounder Cameron Green has been included in Australian ODI & T20Is squads for the series against India starting next month. Surprisingly experienced spinner Nathan Lyon missed out along with all rounder Mitchell Marsh who got injured during IPL 2020.

Green is reckoned as the next big thing in Australian cricket, who is now on the cusp of making his international debut. The Western Australian all rounder has clearly been picked clearly on his performances in the red-ball arena, as his numbers at domestic limited-overs level are only moderate, but few will disagree with his selection.

The all-rounder, rated by Test great and former selector Greg Chappell as the best young Australian player he had seen since Ricky Ponting, has starred in the early rounds of the Shield.

He impressed many in the first-class system with his career-best 197 against a quality NSW attack. It was not the big score that caught the eye of state insiders but his powers of concentration to face 438 balls and bat across three days.

His promotion to the limited-overs squad could be a portent of things to come in the Test arena.

Green, who can reach speeds of 140km/h with the ball, is expected to resume bowling in the next two rounds of the Shield after recovering from stress fractures in his back.

Experienced all rounder Moises Henriques has made comeback into the white ball side after almost three years. Henriques, who last played for his country in India in October 2017, has been rewarded for his power hitting in last season's Big Bash League. Though his average of 24 was unremarkable, selectors noted his strike rate of just under 150.

Henriques and Green will vie with Marcus Stoinis for an all-rounder's berth in the two white-ball sides.

"Moises is a tremendous cricketer with loads of experience and is a great person to have around the group. His form was extremely impressive in leading the Sixers to the BBL title last summer and he has played well at the start of this season," selector Trevor Hohns said.

"Similarly, Cameron's domestic form has been outstanding and he has carried it through for Western Australia this summer. As a potential player of the future this is an opportunity for him to be part of the squad and build on his experience."
