Kolkata: Desire of Atletico de Kolkata to play on the ground of Mohun Bagan is depending upon the decision of Indian Army who are the controller of all the fields of Kolkata Maidan. Today ATK CEO Raghu Iyer visited the Mohun Bahgan ground and expressed his satisfaction over the ground and willingness to play on the ground.

Previously Mohun Bagan and ATK agreed to play the Indian Super League matches on the grounds of Kolkata Maidan. ATK authorities wanted to use the home grounds to have more support for the team. However, the Vivekananda  Yuba Bharati Krirangan is not ready to host the ISL matches. Bengal Sport’s Minister Aroop Biswas declared that they are getting the field ready for the upcoming Under-17 World Cup. They are not ready to take any risk with one of the main venue of Under-17 World Cup.

After that declaration by the West Bengal government ATK authorities tried for the Maidan fields. For that reason ATK officials and IMG-R officials visited the Mohun Bagan ground today. They inspected the whole ground. The team also talked to the Mohun Bagan officials. However, ISL match on this ground depends on the decision of the Army.

All the officials visited the Mohun Bagan ground today, were satisfied with the ground condition. CEO of ATK Raghu Iyer said, “The field infrastructure is fair enough. The other things needed, we will do ourselves. We will discuss with the Army as well as the Government of West Bengal in this regard.”

Previously Mohun Bagan officials stated that they are ready to organize the ISL matches on their ground. According to the club authorities they want matches of the Kolkata team to be held in the city, not anywhere else. The West Bengal government also gave their verbal permission to organize ISL matches on any ground of Maidan and Barasat. Bengal Sport’s Minister Aroop Biswas permitted for the grounds of Kolkata to organize ISL matches.

Now everything depends upon the Army who are the owner of Maidan grounds. The ATK officials will meet the Army authorities very soon in this regard.
