Asia Cup 2018: Sarfraz and his team needs to go and play fearless cricket: Wasim Akram

Debasis Sen, Dubai:
Former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram on Monday said Sarfraz and his team need to play fearless cricket. The former Pakistan legend during an interaction with media on the sidelines of the launch of a tournament said,  “They just need to play fearless cricket. Winning and losing are part of the game. They just need to play fearless cricket.”

The former cricketer also lambasted the meek surrender by Pakistan players in the last two matches. According to Akram, “It is high time now to find who organizes such second tier tours, against opponents like Zimbabwe.  There was nothing to cheer about really following the series win in Zimbabawe. But the problem back home is with media

I am not saying our team is bad. But the body language needs a lot to be desired. I think the team lacks the killer instinct and seems to be a bit nervous. We need to be positive and our body language should reflect that during the next match.

Sarfraz and his team dropped as  many as four catches in the game against India. On being asked about the poor fielding, Akram said, “Catches dropped hote hain. We are dropping catches because we are under pressure. It is also this same pressure that we are not being able to bat and bowl well.”

Meanwhile, Pakistan captain Sarfraz Ahmed is being trolled following his comment at the post-match ceremony on Sunday. The Men in Green were comprehensively outplayed by Rohit Sharma’s team by 9 wickets in the Super 4 clash at Dubai International Stadium.

During his post-match presentation ceremony, Sarfraz admitted their skill level is far more inferior to India.

“Their skill-level is high, ours is not quite there, but by the final, we will get better. It’s a do-or-die match for us in the next game, we will do well,” Sarfraz said after the match.

Pakistan will clash against Bangladesh in a must win situation to seal a berth in Friday’s final at the Dunai International Stadium.
