Armando Colaco’s team bids for I League 2016-17

Kolkata: One of the most successful coaches in Indian football, Armando Colaco can be seen back in I League next season. Colaco’s team FC Bardez on Wednesday submitted its bid document to play in the 2016-17 I League season. Apart from FC Bardez, Minnerva Club of Chandigarh has also submitted their bids for a direct entry in the I League.

Confirming the news, I League CEO Sunanda Dhar said, “Yes, we have received the bid documents from both these clubs. The bid evolution committee of the AIFF will look at the papers submitted and assess whether they have fulfilled the criteria to play in the top tier of I League.”

Earlier Ozone FC from Bengaluru also submitted their bid documents but were not allowed due to a reservation from AFC Cup finalist Bengaluru FC.

FC Bardez, coached by Armando Colaco has made a direct entry to Goa Pro League earlier this year. The club backed by Dubai based stake holders has made rapid strides in Goa Pro League. The club is now heading the Goa Pro League table with 19 points from 10 matches.

In a Goa Pro League match on Wednesday played at the Duler stadium, they drew with Clube Sao Miguel de Taleigao. Joel Sunday scored for Bardez.
