Kolkata: All is not well between East Bengal coach Biswajit Bhattacharya and Bernard Mendy. They are not on talking terms.
Earlier East Bengal coach had slapped a fine of Rs 5000 on six players for joining late in the practice. Mendy landed on Monday and went straight to the club from airport. But the gaffer did not pay any heed to the French footballers and asked him to wait outside.
Biswajit Bhattacharya scheduled a practice at the club ground on Thursday. Bernard Mendy practiced with the team but didn’t utter a word with the coach. Assistant coach Sami Omollo and Debjit Ghosh interacted with him.
According to sources, Coach Biswajit will wait till Friday. Then he will decide the future course of action. Footballers are very reluctant to pay the fine. According to Mendy, He took coach’s permission before flying back to France.
East Bengal will face arch-rival Mohun Bagan on 2nd April in a very crucial encounter at the Kanchenjunga Stadium.
