After a year of scintillating action on the field, as well as tremendous endeavour and improvement off it, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Annual Awards 2015 will celebrate the best of Asian football on November 29 in New Delhi, India.

The world class international gala event will light up Delhi’s magnificent Kingdom of Dreams on Sunday evening starting at 7pm local time, and honour the stars of Asian football.

AIFF president  Praful Patel said: “The All India Football Federation is honoured that the AFC has chosen India as the host for this year’s Annual Awards. India has a rapidly growing football base and we look forward to welcoming Asian football’s finest to Delhi.”

In another development the AIFF had decided to bring back the Federation Cup tournament who was scrapped from its calendar during the current season as it felt that the event had lost its sheen due to the coexistence of I-League and the Indian Super League (ISL).

The decision to bring back the tournament was taken at the AIFF executive committee meeting on Friday,

“The committee, as per the suggestions given by the I-league Committee and after consultation with All India Football Confederation (AFC), decided to hold the Federation Cup on a ‘Home and Away’ basis for the season 2015/16. The top eight teams as per the standings after the completion of the I-League would be participating in the Federation Cup,” the AIFF said in a statement

AIFF technical director Scott O’Donnell and India U-17 national coach Nicolai Adam were also present along with Bhaichung Bhutia (advisor), Abhishek Yadav (director scouting).
