XtraTime Web Desk: Aashish Kapoor takes charge in place of  Venkatesh Prasad in the three-member All-India Junior Selection Committee. Earlier, Indian veteran pacer Prasad resigned from his post and other members in the committee are Mr. Gyanendra Pandey and Mr. Rakesh Parikh.

Prasad stated Personal reasons for stepping down from the post and also mentioned that he doesn’t want to fall under the purview of ‘Conflict of Interest’.

Interestingly, Prasad is only one among the six national selectors (3 juniors and 3 seniors) to have played more international matches than all senior selectors put together (33 Tests and 161 ODIs).

Aashish Kapoor is a former off spinner who played four Tests and 17 ODIs for India, including the 1996 ICC World Cup. He has also played 128 first-class games and 93 List A matches.

Mr. CK Khanna, Acting President of the BCCI, congratulated Mr. Kapoor, saying “I wish him all the very best for this endeavour. I am sure he has a lot to offer when it comes to being a part of the junior selection committee with his varied expertise and experience in the game. India has a rich talent pool and it is important to identify the talent at a young age and nurture them.”
