A new era begins, East Bengal announces new Investors to play ISL

Kolkata: Kolkata giant East Bengal writes new chapter on their rich football history today. An initiative which will be an enviable one for their arch rivals Mohun Bagan as well.

Quess, one of India’s leading business services provider, have inked an agreement with Kolkata giants East Bengal. As part of the investment deal, the club will henceforth be known as Quess East Bengal FC Pvt Ltd (QEBFC).




Quess are headquartered in Bangalore with presence across three continents. The company is listed on Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and were acquired by Thomas Cook back in 2013.

Kalyan Majumder, the Managing Director of QEBFC, said, “We were contemplating options after our association with UB Group came to an end last month and approached Quess with a partnership proposal. We are happy and excited with the Quess brand and together we are hopeful of building India’s best football club.

Mr. Majumder continued, “The association with Quess is promising and brings a refreshing change for the club and its member and fans  with many untapped possibilities. We believe our best is yet to come and we now aim to achieve new landmarks in Indian football.”




On being asked about the matter, East Bengal official Debabrata Sarkar said,” They are ready to give 100 crore rupees as well for the betterment of football.”

If there is a chance for East Bengal taking part in the ISL? Debabrata replied,” We have always wanted one league. That can be I-League or ISL. We don’t have any problem. But this year we will definitely pick the bid paper to play ISL.

Handing the good news to the fans about joining the ISL, Mr Issac, on behalf of Quess claimed, “The sporting activities of the club will gather pace now with the efforts to join the ISL (Indian Super League) as well as to enhance the player base, training capacity and infrastructure required to achieve more sporting trophies.”




The upcoming few weeks will be absolutely critical in defining the stance that Quess East Bengal will take as the Red and Gold army nears completing a move to the Indian Super League.
