A grand FIFA U17 promotion at Mumbai in front of 6 lakhs of people

Mumbai: For the promotion of the U17 World Cup, the Mumbai District Football Association took a great advantage of the 6 lakhs spectators who were present on the occasion of Janmastami. Like every year the occasion of Janmastami (also known as Dai Handi in regional terms) is celebrated every year in Thane, Navi Mumbai.

In this occasion of Dai Handi, 20-25 groups from various districts take part and are known as ‘Mandli’. 6 tier pyramid of people stand on each other and the person on the top breaks the ‘Handi’( mud bowl). To view this festival, people in large number from various parts of the state turn up.

The Mumbai Football District Association took this opportunity to market the U17 World Cup. The flags of the participating 24 teams were setup in a gala fashion. Henry Menjes of the Mumbai Football District Association was also felicitated. A grand show of freestyle football was seen by an amazed crowd.

The trophy would reach Mumbai on September 6 and it would be kept at the DY Patil Stadium. They also plan to market and start branding of the U17 World Cup at the tri Nation series which will be held in Mumbai. They also plan to bring the World Cup trophy at the India gate on September 10 however special permission would be required for that.

Mumbai Football District Association also plan to utilize the opportunity of Ganesh Puja to brand the upcoming football extravaganza. Henry Menjes said, “Our Secretaery Aditya Thakre has insprised us greatly and we plan to reach the masses by such promotions”
