99 year old philanthropist proves to be an inspiration for Laxman

Internet Desk: There has never been a shortage of inspirational stories in rural India. The latest addition to the never ending list is 99 years old philanthropist Sudhanshu Biswas. A teacher by profession, Mr Biswas is a freedom fighter as well. The old man in-spite of financial problem continues to serve the country through his philanthropic organisation.

Sri Ramkrishna Sevashram (SRKS), the organisation founded by Mr Biswas is devoted to the betterment of the backward of districts of South 24 Parganas.

Former India cricketer VVS Laxman is the latest celebrity to get inspired by the deeds of the old freedom fighter turned philanthropist. The stylish cricketer from Hyderabad recently read about the deeds of Mr Biswas and shared his feeling about him on his twitter handle. Laxman, who is also associated with the Vision 20-20 project by the Cricket Association of Bengal is getting to know more about the rural Bengal.

The cricketer turned commentator felt inspired with the work of Sudhanshu Biswas. His tweet read, “Really inspired to read about Sudhanshu Biswas ji, who is 99 years of age and is imparting free education to poor kids in a village in Bengal”

In a series of tweets, Laxman also wrote, “Biswas ji has founded 18 primary schools and manages an old age home, a dispensary and a children’s home. He was also our freedom hero.”

In the last four decades, Mr. Biswas has set up 18 free schools for the poor children in remote villages in the nearby Sunderban area. He has also opened an orphanage where needy students stay and study in SRKS. The organisation also has a hermitage which provides shelter to 29 senior citizens from the nearby villages. A charitable dispensary is also run as a part SRKS. To top it all, well into his seventies he studied general medicine and Homeopathy, observing the irregularities of doctors in villages. He collects the physician medicine samples and distributes them among the sick. In another tweet, Laxman wrote, “His school has been changing lives of many poor kids and orphans and many of Biswas ji’s students are now doctors, teachers and engineers.”
