Kolkata: Star Indian goalkeeper Debjit Majumder has been the biggest target for all the top I-League and ISL sides this season. There is literally a “Tug of War” going on especially between the I-League heavyweights East Bengal-Mohun Bagan and Atletico de Kolkata. Specially East Bengal and Atletico De Kolkata are quite desperate to secure their goalkeeping spot for the forthcoming season.

Debjit played a key role in Atletico de Kolkata’s ISL title win last season and was a vital cog in Mohun Bagan’s second place finish in both I-League and Federation Cup this year. The courageous goalkeeper proved his calibre consistently and thus has become the biggest transfer target of the season.

He joined Bagan in 2014, was part of the Mariners’ I-League winners of 2014/15 and also a key man in their goal when they won the Federation Cup last year. Debjit, arguably the best goalkeeper in the recent times in Indian football, has been offered a “BIG MONEY TRANSFER” by Kolkata heavyweight Kingfisher East Bengal this season and Debjit too is giving a lot of respect to their proposal and interest, as per reliable sources. On the flip side, Atletico de Kolkata too has been eager to retain him with a lucrative contract this season.  Though Mohun Bagan too have offered a good amount of money to him this season.

He has been offered by a few ISL franchises as well. But as of now, it seems that the destination for Debjit for the forthcoming season will likely be Kolkata only. Sources close to Debjit told www.xtratime.in that, Debjit is waiting for the best possible offer for him before signing the contract.

Meanwhile, Mohun Bagan has roped in former DSK Shivajians and Delhi Dynamos goalkeeper Soram Poirei to sense the uncertainty on Debjit.
