2018 FIFA WC: Southgate leads England team for final training session as countdown for the semi-final match begins

XtraTime Web Desk: Gareth Southgate’s England stars have left their Moscow hotel as the countdown to tonight’s World Cup semi-final with Croatia begins.

The players were spotted by television cameras heading onto a coach outside their residence, where they are expected to take part in a light training session nearby.

There were no nerves on show from either the manager or the players, as the relaxed atmosphere around the England camp continued.

Southgate led the players out wearing his usual light grey training jacket, and he was followed by the likes of Jesse Lingard, Marcus Rashford and Nick Pope.

The players wore their identification round their neck and black training tops in the Russian rain, as they headed out of their hotel before the game.

The whole of England is awaiting the big kick-off on Wednesday night, with the Three Lions just one match away from their first World Cup final since 1966.

The winner of England-Croatia will face off with France on Sunday night in the Moscow showpiece, and Southgate will be desperate for his side to get there.

Southgate was followed out of the hotel by his assistant Steve Holland, and the pair will have been busy finalising their tactics ahead of one of the biggest nights in English footballing history.

Following a successful tournament so far, and victories over Tunisia, Panama, Colombia and Sweden, there is a real belief that the Three Lions can now reach the final.

The players have already bettered expectations, with the whole of England buying into the team and their recent performances.

Millions of fans are building up to the big day back in England, with pubs and parks set for a huge night all around the country.
